Vitrimers are polymer networks with dynamic covalent crosslinks that enable stress relaxation and reprocessing at high temperatures or with catalysts. Current research focuses on thermosetting formulations and modifying thermoplastics. We will address the challenges in (re)processing vitrimers, particularly the trade-offs between creep resistance at service temperatures and rapid processing rates. Recent strategies include successfully forming phase-separated blends of vitrimer and thermoplastic phases through reactive processing. This method results in a dynamically cross-linked vitrimer network with yield stress properties that can be disrupted under high shear. Notably, this blending technique allows for scaling up the production of vitrimer/polypropylene blends using standard industrial equipment and processing tools like injection presses and 3D printers.
